As of June 1st, our dear friend and mentor Mandy Black will be moving out of Ohio. She will have a reduced volunteering role as a result and will only be able to access the program through our virtual programming.
Mandy will live on at QYou through naming our veteran volunteer roles "Mandy" roles.
Mandy, we thank you for your service and commitment to helping LGBTQ+ youth thrive!
Volunteering with the QYou Program helps provides our youth with safe, trusted adults who can provide mentoring through testimonies of lived queer experience, while also providing program support to coordinators. The relationships you build with our youths can truly save lives.
Step 1: Sign up to become an LGBT Community Center Volunteer, get your background check completed, and attend a Volunteer Orientation Night.
Step 2: Sign up on Timecounts (our volunteer management site) to become a QYou Volunteer
Step 3: Interview with Program Coordinators and read over programming & mentoring education.
Step 4: Decide what role you would like to have as a volunteer. They are:
First 3 months of service: Living Room Supervision, Community Outreach & Recruitment, & Special Events
Mandy Roles: Head Mandy, Social Media Mandy, & Communications Mandy
Step 5: Track your hours on a spreadsheet in the QDrive.
