QYou Ambassadors

Who are they?

The QYou Ambassadors (QYA) are graduates of the #PowerUpPowerOut series who are committed to the mission of leading, advocating, and creating action for LGBTQ+ youth in Northeast Ohio. During our weekly meetings, currently held Tuesdays at 5 PM, our Ambassadors conduct participatory action research, highlight & discuss important topics for queer youth, volunteer as facilitators of #PowerUpPowerOut, and get involved with community action and service.

For more information on how to become a QYou Ambassador, please consider completing all 13 modules of #PowerUpPowerOut, and discussing with program coordinators about what the title of QYou Ambassador involves.

What's on their Agenda?

The QYou Ambassadors (QYAs) met in-person this spring to brainstorm ideas for this group of young queer leaders. Here is what we learned from one another:

Matching Expectations: Maturity and Community Engagement

They are invested in making change, being leaders, educating, and inspiring others

They want to lead help Drop-IN!, co-facilitate #PowerUpPowerOut,and Volunteer in the Center

They seek to give and receive Mentoring to build community resources, friendships, and boundaries

Our Tuesday meetings now involve a check-in, reviewing the Center developments (Drop-IN!, #PUPO, QYA, QGen, QZine, Events, Schools, Social Action), and targeted discussions.
