A Female Sailing and Climbing Expedition
A Female Sailing and Climbing Expedition
Documentary - 90 min
While the world of sailing and expedition mountaineering is still dominated by men, these eight women have shown that it is possible to reach Greenland in an ecological way and that an all-female team can complete such an adventure. A story that encourages everyone to follow their dreams and hopes to inspire other women to follow uncharted paths - because anything is possible!
Through the rough Atlantic to wild Summits of Greenland - When Caro North and Marta Guemes worked together on a social project as mountain guide and skipper, they soon realized that they shared the same passion for great adventures and expeditions into the unknown. Soon they began to dream of a joint expedition that would be different from anything they had experienced before. They wanted to sail with an all-female team from France through the rough Arctic sea to Greenland, where the climbers would try to attempt the first ascent of a Big Wall. Finally they were able to set sail from La Rochelle on June 20th 2022, but it soon became clear that Sedna, the Inuit goddess of the seas, would put the team to the test. A pure story of patience, determination, trust, a strong female bond, extraordinary performances with a touch of humor.

She started her sailing career at Glénans sailing center and worked there as a sailing instructor, sailing around France, England and Ireland. Later on she participated at regattas and ocean races like the “Mini-Transat 2017”, a solo handed race across the Atlantic with no assistance in a 6.50m sailing boat. As skipper and expedition leader she has led two sailing/climbing expeditions to the west coast of Greenland and to Norway. Throughout her different experiences she has learned how to combine her technical, social and communication skills to develop professional projects.
NADIA ROYO CREMER
Nadia is a mountaineer with a passion for traditional climbing, an amateur alpinist and a climbing instructor. It was a nomadic childhood close to nature that gave her a passion for the mountains and wilderness. The first speleologist in Spanish caves, she began climbing in the Pyrenees at the age of 26. Since then, she has made up for lost time by climbing the great lost walls of South Africa, the amazing peaks of Patagonia and the unexplored cracks of Bolivia. Committed to a vision of practice that respects our fragile nature, she organises courses and climbing events related to environmental education.
MARIA SOL MASSERA
She started sailing at the age of 11 in the cold and windy seas of the Valdes Peninsula in Patagonia, Argentina. That's where her passion for sailing and naval architecture began, between whales and rough seas. Naval architecture took her to France, where she had the chance to find her place in a renowned yacht design office. For several years she raced dinghies and cruisers, long passages in South America (Buenos Aires - Punta del Este/Puerto Madryn - Mar del Plata / Mar del Plata - Buenos Aires). She owns a plywood sailing boat which she has completely restored herself. She is always curious about technical problems on board and can be very helpful from a technical point of view, she might find the problem and even fix it!
CARO DEHAIS
She studied engineering and worked for several years in the energy and environment sectors in France and with NGOs abroad. She eventually turned to traditional carpentry. Originally from Normandy, she spent her childhood summers in Brittany on a 4.70m dinghy. That's where she discovered her passion for sailing and the sea! In addition to her sailing skills, she is an excellent cook. Her speciality: making chocolate bread during night shifts, which will make everyone's waking up even happier! Her technical skills as a carpenter and engineer come in handy on expeditions to remote regions where you have to rely on yourself.
CAPUCINE COTTEAUX

ALIX JAEKEL
Alix is a passionate sailmaker and a keen supporter of women in sailing. After graduating from Sciences Po and La Sorbonne in Paris, she initially worked as a communications executive in the video games industry. She discovered sailing when she moved to the UK... and it was soon the end of her office life! She learnt to crew on racing boats in Brighton and raced in the Solent, the international centre of sailing, competing in iconic RORC races such as Cowes Week and Round the Island. A year later she bought a boat, quit her job and headed south! It brought her to the shores of La Rochelle, where she turned her love of sailing and craftsmanship into a passion - sailmaking. If she's not in the sail loft, you'll find her on the water. She is always looking for challenges that will make her a great sailor and a master sailmaker.
RAMONA WALDNER
As an enthusiastic mountaineer, Ramona believes in adventures where others merely see stones, sand or dark water. Her intense desire to breathe in the world and discover what is there to be discovered goes hand in hand with a deep respect for nature and all its creatures. While in many cases everything and everyone is turned into an object in photography, she wants to emphasise the subject and embrace its stubbornness as well as its (inner) beauty. Her travels and expeditions for books and magazines in the field of wildlife, sports and documentary photography have taken her to many places around the world, including the Tibetian Plateau, the Cambodian jungle, remote islands in Alaska, Patagonia, Bhutan, Ethiopia and many more. Each project is a new task for which she is always passionate and not afraid of a challenge. She always wants to capture what is hidden behind a face or an ocean, something that is just waiting for her to tell its story.
