(Newbies are also known as "Palace Dwellers")
#1 Rule
All content in The Paper Palace is copyrighted by owners of each shared work.
All tutorials are also copyrighted content and should not be copy and pasted onto other sites to share with other people who are not Palace Dwellers.
The boards are private for registered members only. If you use the “share” feature, and are not logged in, you will only see the public message board.
If you are sharing with a non-member, they cannot see the message and are sent to the public message board.
Basic Group Rules
1. Be helpful, kind, and courteous to other members.
2. If you get ideas here, then share your work and knowledge with the rest of us.
3. Do not spam or advertise.
4. You are allowed a text link in your signature but no images in your signature.
5. You can have an avatar.
Passwords
You need to keep track of this personal information, group managers cannot help you.
Please use the password retrieval system, if you lose it that is it.
Membership
If you have not posted anything in a while, you may be removed.
If your email bounces, you will be removed. You can always come back.
The member list is reviewed every few years, if that.
Avatars, Signatures, and Links
Please upload an avatar to your profile.
Include your blog/photo album URL in your profile also.
For signatures, please only use a text link — no images or banners (Some people are still on dial up plus if your image appears too many times, you could be using up your allotted bandwidth on your photo account then we would see the dreaded box with the red X or some other ugly message.)
Code for signatures is below.
Scanning Tips (if you still use one)
If uploading work in any album, make sure that you have sized your picture so that it is not too large in kbs.
Scanning at 80% size and 80% dpi (72dpi is the lowest web recommendation) can reduce your size considerably.
Posting Pictures in Messages
You can upload your photos into some free sharing accounts and use the URL from those photos in your messages. The photos download off your free account. Photos only download when a message is opened up on the message board.
Check out the storage and bandwidth restrictions before selecting an album.
A link to the picture can be used if you are concerned about bandwidth and a dreaded X box or “picture exceeded bandwidth/storage”.
Adding Photos to the Boards:
1. We can now add an attachment to messages. OR
2. You need to upload your photos, collect the URL, and then in the message tool bar, click on the little postcard icon, and drop in your URL. You can re-size the photo by boxing it and dragging the arrow to the center.
UBB Boards Code:
[img src= url of the image]
More UBB codes can be found here.

In the message, write out your link name and highlight.

Gallery Chat
You can create your own Gallery Chat thread, directions/tutorial are on the board.
In your first message, add your blog banner (can link up the picture) and appropriate links.
If you update your blog, please post it as a new message on your Gallery Thread.
Subscribe to your thread so you are up to date on any messages left for you.
Group Announcements/Newsletter (also covered here)
From time to time, managers can send a broad email out to all members.
There are five types:
— on site PM to all members, you must be logged in to check this out
— on site announcement to member’s emails
— newsletter from PP account
— and a swanky newsletter that you must sign up for
— or the Yahoo group (can remove yourself from either of the last two).
Members receive any if they have a legitimate working email on site, and have signed up for the private one or Yahoo.
Check your spam folder to see if you got any filtering in there.
Invite a Friend
The only way to invite a friend it to tell them, send them this site’s URL so they can look around and decide if it is a group for them.
