once again, big changes will be coming to your rockstar energy cup series and verizon grand national division landscapes, as now there will be a 2-man booth for upcoming races. carter boyd has been in the commentary business for a while, and now he will be joining us for nurrscurr commentary. a close friend of mine, carter and i have been racing against each other in nascar heat leagues for over a month now, and he has shown his talents in calling races, even if it wasn't asked for. :) but having carter in the booth will help out the workload and fill in the awkward gaps where i have nothing to say. i can only say that i can not wait to livestream the next weekend of races at sonoma raceway alongside carter for the first time.
After wfan-mcnama got themselves a team in the cup series, a lot of other teams ended up being very interested in getting top teams. since last wednesday, four coca cola cup series teams have made deals to have developmental series teams funnel talent into the cup series for them. the first team was tier ONE motorasports. tier one has gotten adrenaline motorsports of the john deere series to act as the junior team for tier ONE. adrenaline has had three wins in this season of john deere competition, two with matt damon and one with replacement driver jennifer lawrence. adrenaline does have relatively sporadic success, and it will be interesting to see what they can do trying to make cup level talent. im going to assume that tier one is goingto take matt damon with their ninth selection in the draft. the second team is high line racing, and they are one of the few teams to have all drivers win.albeit, they only have two drivers that do know how to win. they have hooked up with BNS birdia racing inm the starbucks series to have a team to farm in talent. BNS has yet to win a race but this could help this little team get some knowing. the third team is springsteen enterprises, who have gotten magnaflow racing as their developmental duo. magnaflow has gotten four wins this year, and peter sellers is a guaranteed cup series selection in the draft, but springsteen taking him in his selection might be what this team needs to make it back to last year's winning ways. last but not least, the final team that has aquired a farm team is jake the goldfish motorsports, who have gotten one of the new teams and will have his cup series sponsor, shalstrone, on the cars.jake has yet to find major success this year, but a surge of power at monday's sony indy 500 may give him a confidence boost into this week's race at the dubai autodrome. however i would like to return to tier ONE for a few seconds, as they have spotted a prospect, a diamond in the rough, that i will write an article about later today. so to conclude, what WFAN-mcnama has done for the industry is a big step forward, and new talent that teams are going to bring up, a la what tier ONE is doing now. it will be very interesting to see what these teams to do with their drivers.
Through the 68 nurrscurr races broadcast since season 3, a total of 431 people have tuned in to see a race. But which races? During what season?this report gives you everything you need to know about the history of ratings and viewership in the nurrsurr broadcast era.
The viewership of nurrscurr races, ironically, was at it’s peak in season 4, when it debuted. But did you know that was not the original season 4 of nurrscurr racing? The original season 4 of the sport was on another of my failed channels, and only two races aired before it was shut down. The season 4 we all knew and loved was than released and now we have nurrscurr network and many other great things around this sport. Those two races raked in 5 and 11 views respectively. The fourth season accumulated a total of 194 views as of may 24 2019, and has an average viewership of 7.18 views per race. Including non-race videos like chase announcments and the jim carrey stuff, we ended up with 261 views and 8.7 per race. Season 5 fared a little bit differently in terms of views, but still good performance and numbers. The fifth season raked in 144 total views averaging out to 6.8 views per race. Including non-race videos, we racked up 284 total views with an average of 9.79 views per video. The sixth season has not gone as well, with numbers being heavily down this year as compared to seasons of old. The sixth season has so far has had 43 people tune in averaging out to 2.5 views per race. But the non-race videos do good, so you should have decent numbers with those thrown in, you say. But sadly you are wrong. With the non-race videos, we only add up to 105 views, and an average of 4.3.
So what this report tells me is that so far the best viewership is behind us. The best race views are in season 4, yet the most consistency came from season 5. Although the fifth season’s views we're down a bit, as the graph tells us, the consistency of said races was very good. Around this time, even the non-race related videos we're just booming and performing well. The trendline on the graph, shown in red, has gone down consistently since the start of broadcast races for season 4. We hope to see the ratings go up from this past season’s, and i believe that when we become a live channel and separate channel will give us the exposure we need and bring the ratings up emphatically. It is sad to see that the product has fallen off since it’s televised debut, but we hope to see it grow again in the near future.
the checkered flag podcast was a weekly show that only ran about three episodes, but it was really practice for darin mcnama. the show was good, but getting it edited and released within two days was too tough to handle. but with the new live format coming this fall, with it comes a new talkshow. it will be called ' the nurrscurr rundown' and will mostly go over what happened on recent nurrscurr races, but also will be doing questions from you and other mini segments within it's 45 minute running time. it will be run in the soon to be constructed studio, and it will debut the same night as the nurrscurr cup series draft in late august/ early september. the show will be run by jack spalding and darin mcnama, with occasional guest appearances from other drivers. more details to come out when they happen.
hundreds of drivers have come and gone from nurrscurr, and some of them were truly greats.but they are also forgotten. the new nurrscurr hall of fame will shine a light on those legends consumed by the three seasons of nurrscurr racing that were not broadcast to the world. every year, seven drivers will be eligible for the hall of fame, and four will make the hall. the criteria for the hall of fame will be released in the near future.
