With Mt. Carmel being a very successful football school, many seniors have made it their mission to get as many state championships as possible, hoping they get indicted into some sort of Hall Of Fame for Carmel or even getting a world record. Certain loopholes have been found in the IHSA rulebook to allow for this.
By spending countless hours rereading the rulebook, senior football players found out that by enrolling for the next school year at Carmel, they would be able to go through another football season. Players and coaches alike have become obsessed with the feeling of satisfaction that comes with winning and working together to do everything in their power to reach that high again.
Some players love the idea and plan on doing it themselves when they become seniors, “I can’t wait for my senior year,” said junior Matthew McCool, “coming back here and seeing everyone again and getting to play football again sounds amazing.”
After the recent football season, Coach Jordan Lynch and his coaching staff have been scouring through rule books looking for ways to guarantee success for years to come. It turns out that solution was right in front of them. If the players came back as freshman then they could keep playing. This would be sacrificing the prime years some of them have for college football but this may be the peak of their football career anyway.
Many students have differing opinions on these newfound strategies, “I really don’t care what they do,” said sophomore Gavin Bell,” as long as we keep getting days off they can bend as many rules as they want.”
“This is an outrage to the integrity of the IHSA,” said senior Joseph Walsh” “This league was built on a code of honor!”
No complaints have been made on the administration side so far. All members seem pretty content with the extra tuition coming in.
