Screw it, I’m not leaving: a senior reflection

That’s right, Mount Carmel. I’m coming back. After four years of walking these halls, I decided I’d take a fifth.
Since freshman year, I’ve loved this place. The Caravan Broadcast Network was one of the first things I got involved with, and my job as producer was awesome. But as much as I loved being behind the scenes, next year I’m going to be putting on the headset. I’m really excited to announce my career on the microphone instead of behind the scenes, and it’s something I’ve been looking forward to doing since Matt Malloy finally relinquished his grip on the mic.
In the fall, I’m going to make a push to get CBN to start livestreaming Cross Country meets. They’re thrilling to watch, and even more fun to commentate. They run, and then they run, and then they run some more. Having been a three year runner myself, I know the ins and outs of running– my experience is going to seriously help me as I get into the hot seat.
I’ve also been very interested in being a teacher. Since MC has been needing some younger people to join the staff, I decided to take up the mantle of AP Blockblast History. With my long history and knowledge of blasting traditions, I thought it would be appropriate to try and help my other students learn more about this fascinating culture. I also want to make sure that students are able to maintain this diverse part of our unique teenage life, and make sure it sticks with them for a long time. I’ll also be able to take over the class from Mr. Perlberg, which would take some work off his plate.
You might have heard a rumor about me attending Notre Dame in the Fall. I can assure you that these rumors are completely false and most likely being spread by the manipulative and foolish group that is the lacrosse team. I would not want to attend a school that has such a lowly academic reputation–especially one that isn’t very good athletically. I only want to attend the best institutions with the best communities, which is exactly why I decided to come back to Dante Ave. Nowhere else is like MC, and I won’t find my forever home until I get a place like it outside of high school.
Next year is when I plan on officially also making my bid for student body president. I initially wanted to run last year, but I decided to hold off because I thought it might be prudent to wait until there was less competition. Christos Dimas was really the only man who could stand in my way for becoming president, and since the current junior class has no real outstanding students, I’ve decided to put my name in the hat. After I add that to my resume, there won’t be anything stopping me from attending any of the Ivy Leagues.
Mount Carmel has offered me more opportunities and experiences than I could have possibly imagined, and I will forever be grateful for the possibility to do great things while I’ve been here. Next year will feature the fruition of four prior years of hard work and dedication, as my experiences all culminate into my super-senior year.
I can’t wait to welcome the new freshmen class with great respect and honor and have them whisper about the fifth-year senior.
Go Caravan.
