The Marginal Page is an independent, youth-led literary magazine created for writing that deserves to be read, considered, and remembered. We are not built around a single institution or classroom; we are an independent publication shaped by a shared commitment to literature and thoughtful expression.
Our team brings together individuals with different experiences, perspectives, and creative interests, working collaboratively to develop each issue. The magazine is built through the time and effort of its volunteers and editors, all of whom play a part in shaping what appears on our pages.
We believe that a literary magazine should be more than a place to collect writing. Every submission is considered carefully by our editorial team, with attention given to the quality of the work, the strength of its voice, and what it brings to the conversation. We are interested in work that feels purposeful, whether quiet or ambitious, familiar or unexpected.
We publish fiction, nonfiction, essays, poetry, reviews, and photography from writers across different backgrounds and experiences. We welcome both emerging and established voices, because we believe meaningful writing is not limited by age, credentials, or recognition.
The Marginal Page is still at the beginning of its journey. Our ambition is not simply to publish issues, but to grow into a publication that writers can trust with their work and readers can return to for writing that challenges, moves, and stays with them.
Our mission is to create a literary platform where writers can share meaningful work and readers can discover new voices and ideas.
We aim to:
Publish original and compelling writing.
Provide a platform for emerging and established voices alike.
Encourage thoughtful engagement with literature and ideas.
Celebrate different perspectives, experiences, and styles.
Allow young editors to learn and participate in the publishing process.
Build a community around a shared appreciation for literature.
Literature has never belonged to one particular age group, background, or experience.
The Marginal Page exists to bring different voices together in one publication.
Whether you're submitting your first piece or have been writing for years, we want our magazine to be a place where your work can be considered on its own merits.
Original short stories and imaginative prose.
True stories, personal narratives, observations, and other reality-based writing.
Thoughtful explorations of ideas, culture, society, literature, and the world around us.
Original poetry across forms, styles, and subjects.
Critical and engaging reviews of books and other literary works.
photography that complements the literary and creative spirit of The Marginal Page.
The Marginal Page is led and operated by a young editorial team.
Our editors, designers, beta readers, and social media team work together to develop each issue and maintain the publication.
While our leadership is youth-led, our literary scope is not limited to young writers. We welcome submissions according to our submission guidelines and evaluate work based on its quality, originality, and suitability for the magazine.
Being youth-led does not mean compromising on professionalism. We aim to approach every stage of the publishing process with care, fairness, and responsibility.
We hope to build a publication that brings together different generations, experiences, ideas, and literary voices while giving our young editorial team the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the world of publishing.
“We are not building just another literary magazine. We are building The Marginal Page with the ambition to become a publication that stands for quality, independence, and writing that matters, and we are holding ourselves to that standard from day one.”
