Dr. Prasanna Santhekadur is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, JSS Medical College, JSS AHER, Mysore. He spent almost 10 years as a Cancer Researcher at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, USA.
As a Scientist, he received many national and international awards – the prestigious Ramalingaswami Fellowship from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. His major research contribution includes the discovery of new partners in the RNA-induced silencing complex and their oncogenic role in NAFLD-associated Hepatocarcinogenesis. Recently, his research team discovered the eukaryotic cellular receptor for Withaferin A, a potent drug of natural origin and his team also established a novel link between breast cancer and liver inflammation and fibrosis. He is also the recipient of the prestigious C.V. Raman Young Scientist Award

Cancer biology never fails to fascinate me. I joined the LRL at CEMR as a doctoral research scholar in 2022. My work focuses on understanding the mechanisms of epigenetic regulation in development and progression of HCC. I am working on microRNA clusters and non-coding RNAs associated with HCC. During my free time, I like to indulge myself in conceptualizing my thoughts into art.
