At The Little Duckling Daycare, we focus on supporting the whole child through a nurturing, play-based program for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
Each week features engaging themes, hands-on learning activities, and a balance of structured lessons with indoor and outdoor play. We incorporate Montessori-inspired learning and use Conscious Discipline to help children build emotional awareness, confidence, and positive social skills.
All meals—including formula—are included in your weekly rate for your convenience. We also enjoy regular community field trips to provide enriching real-world experiences.
We are proud to participate in the Get Kids Ready program, offering free 4K learning opportunities for eligible children. We also accept Wisconsin Shares childcare assistance.
Our center provides a safe, loving environment focused on learning through play and holds a 5-star YoungStar rating.
Learning happens best when children can connect what they experience in childcare to the real world around them. Each new experience helps reinforce important early academic and developmental skills in meaningful, hands-on ways.
At our childcare, we take multiple field trips each week to give children opportunities to explore and learn in different settings. Some of our favorite destinations include the Eau Claire Children’s Museum, local library storytimes, River Source, Family Center, Family Resource Center, as well as nearby parks, beaches, swimming pools, and local farms.
I use Blossom and Root’s “Early Years” curriculum to guide instruction for both 2–3K and 4–5K age groups, providing a play-based, developmentally appropriate foundation for early learning. All children receive intentional instruction throughout the day, with additional one-on-one preschool support for children over age three to strengthen early literacy, math, and social-emotional skills.
My program aligns with WEMELS standards and meets 5-star YoungStar quality requirements. I also participate in the Get Kids Ready program, offering free 4K learning opportunities for eligible children.
I post daily photos and videos in our private Facebook group so families can stay connected and see the exciting activities their child is participating in throughout the day.
At drop-off and pick-up, I provide brief updates so guardians are always informed about their child’s day, progress, and experiences.
I also incorporate Conscious Discipline practices to support self-regulation, emotional development, and strong social-emotional learning skills in a nurturing, consistent environment.
Meals
Healthy meals and snacks are provided and included in your weekly rate. I participate in the Western Dairyland Food Program to ensure nutritious, well-balanced meals are served to support growing children.
Children receive breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack each day, helping to keep them energized, focused, and ready to learn and play throughout the day. Formula is also included for infants as part of the program.
Rated five stars by YoungStar—the highest level in Wisconsin’s child care quality rating system. This means your child benefits from a safe, nurturing environment, strong early learning practices, and qualified care. I also accept Wisconsin Shares, making quality care more accessible for families.
Please fill out the interest form below to see if I have a spot available or be added to my waitlist.
I do not believe that the perfect family is necessarily at the top of my waitlist. When a spot opens, I call every family to overview what I offer, learn about the goals you have for your child, and the logistics of my care. From there, I will select families to walk though my facility, go over a presentation about my contract, discuss the holistic needs of your child, and informally interview families.
Prior to opening my childcare program four years ago, I worked as an elementary and middle school teacher. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and a Master’s degree as a Reading Specialist from the University of Wisconsin–Stout.
While earning my master’s degree, I obtained specialized certifications as a Reading 316 and 317 teacher, qualifying me to provide reading intervention for both students and educators. I also double-minored in Language Arts and American Sign Language, and focused my studies on child development, supporting children with special needs, and fostering inclusive, diverse learning environments.
In preparation for opening my childcare program, I completed extensive training, including Introduction to the Child Care Profession, Fundamentals of Family Child Care, Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care, CPR certification, SIDS training, Abusive Head Trauma Prevention (Shaken Baby Syndrome), Mandated Reporter training, and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. I am committed to ongoing professional development and use research-based practices to provide the highest quality care.
Since opening my program, I have been proud to become one of the highest-rated childcare providers in the state for quality care and early learning. With my background in education, I understand what children need to be prepared academically, socially, and emotionally, and I individualize my approach to meet each child’s unique needs.
I believe children thrive in a small, nurturing environment, which is why I intentionally keep my program well below capacity. This allows me to provide more personalized attention and build strong, meaningful relationships with each child and family.
I proudly offer a welcoming, inclusive environment that is LGBTQ+ friendly and a safe space for transgender children and families.
