Start enforcing littering laws in your own city. In realization of this journey as I've researched more and more about how harmful littering truely is, I took it upon myself to start the conversation in m own city of Windsor, Ontario!
I've started a petition to try to get fines for littering in Windsor as we currently do not have any.
Fines are an effective method to keep neighbourhoods clean as demonstrated by other big cities who follow this method. Having a ridiculous fine for such a small act like throwing garbage our of a car would allow people to second guess their action, questioning if littering is really worth a $500 fine for example.

By purchasing items that are not meant to be thrown out, we lower the likliness of littering tremebously.
An example of this is purchasing a reusable cup for buying beverages, by doing so were eliminating four peices of garbage that could potentially end up in the enviorment and contaminate human and animal life. By asking to fill our own cup we eliminate straw wrappers, straws, the cup and the lids! And an added bonus is the discount many places will rpovie if you do bring our own cup! Both enviromentally and economically friendly!
