The Juneteenth Project is a civic memory initiative dedicated to honoring Black Civil War veterans and the democratic ideals they fought for.

Across the country, the men of the United States Colored Troops helped save the Union and expand the meaning of American freedom. Their sacrifices deserve remembrance, gratitude, and action. We work to lift their stories, tend their graves, and carry forward their vision of a just Republic.
