At the beginning of this semester, we were met with an incredible sense of urgency to uncover lost history in regards to the city of Akron- more specifically Howard Street and the jazz community. There is a massive connection between what our class has done with the community of Akron. This research began before our class did and we had the pleasure of putting our efforts into continuing it; as the semester comes to a close, we get to pass the torch on to future classes and the rest of the community. We are hoping that this website creation will inspire viewers to continue this archival research to see what they can find within lost local history.
A list of people we would like to thank from their efforts throughout this semester:
Hillary Nunn, for holding us together
Theron Brown, for inspiring us
Ron Ponder, for his stories and incredible sense of humor
Jay Willis, for his stories
Roger Riddle, for showing us this was possible
Mark Souther, for his patience and guidance
Arrye Rosser, for her commitment to the CVNP
The staff at Mt. Peace Cemetery, for their kindness and help
This project is dedicated to Howard Street and what once was. We will never forget you.
