Where are the boys now?
Where are the boys now?
ROB GALLAS/lead vocals
Although he was not an original member of the Hidden Factor, Gallas has been a friend of the band since the 80s and did do some performing with the boys back in the day after meeting them at a party in Newport Beach, Calif. This time around, he is the band's lead singer, a role Todd Wollard was happy to relinquish. The 30-year professional musician is the frontman for Southern California's Moral DK (www.moraldk.com), which has released one album, Cold In August, with a new full-length album slated for release in early 2024. Rob is also the lead singer for Straight 78, a funk, soul, and R&B cover band playing special events and bars around the So Cal area, with a set list including artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and Joe Cocker. Gallas spends countless hours writing, creating, recording and performing music, which he regards as his passion and love in life. He has been happily married to his wife Sharon for 27 years, and has one step-daughter and two grandchildren.
JIM MIELE/bass
Miele, who joined the band in 1985 after the departure of original bassist Clay Jacobs, attended San Diego State University but continued to play his bass. He graduated from SDSU and has worked in accounting and finance ever since. He lived in Newport Beach for a decade before meeting Kristin, his wife to-be. They eventually moved to the suburbs of Southern California and had two children. He recently said that the Hidden Factor reunion was one of the most exciting things that has happened to him in years. "For those two days, time stopped and it was like we were still in a garage in Irvine," Miele said. "I think (the songs) came out great for five hacks who haven't played together in 30 some-odd years." Miele plays all bass tracks on the EP and also the guitar solo on She's a River.
JASON MILLS/guitar
After graduating from Musicians Institute in Hollywood, Calif., Mills began pursuing a career as a freelance musician in Orange County and Los Angeles. Through several encounters, he became involved at Saddleback Church and began a life in music ministry as a guitar player, band leader and music arranger/orchestrator. It was during this time that Mills also started to become interested in studio work, both in front of and behind the glass. After several years he also attended seminary and became an ordained pastor after moving to the Kansas City metro area where he currently serves at Westside Family Church as music director. Jason remains in Kansas and is married to his wife of 25 years. They have two adult daughters together. Since 2012, Mills has released several original instrumental and vocal songs under his own name. They can be accessed on Spotify at https://open.spotify.com/artist/48QDAdg9tVdn9AiYiXJyOv?si=2RrtOEIQS-GGkGnjSkF1YA and most other streaming platforms.
JEFF WOLLARD/drums
Immediately after leaving the music world, Wollard became an English/journalism teacher and softball coach. He retired in 2022 after 33 years, but still works as a reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper. He also has written on a freelance basis for nearly every major newspaper in the United States. The resident of Southern Nevada is married with five kids and four grandchilden. Wollard had not played his drums in over 20 years prior to this project and as a result had to practice daily for six months to get back into game shape. He generally sticks to a little rhythm guitar and lots of ukulele these days. For some time, he had a YouTube channel called Bathroom Uke, which featured him playing Hawaiian and jazz classics on his ukulele from the fine acoustic settings of various bathrooms. Today he spends much of his freetime traveling, with camping and fishing locations topping his list.
TODD WOLLARD/guitar
Wollard joined law enforcement following his days in the band. After working for several departments, he settled in as a special agent for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, serving with the Office of Internal Affairs. He has a wife, two older sons and a younger daughter, and remains in Southern California. Wollard likes to travel, and he is on a quest to see a game at every Major League Baseball park in the country. He also likes to collect and play guitars, as his inventory is quite sizeable.
