The Heartland Winds
Welcome to the homepage for the Heartland Winds!
The Heartland Winds is a community band founded in 2007 by Chuck Campbell. Since it's inception, the Heartland Winds has presented numerous concerts in the Elizabethtown community showcasing a wide variety of repertoire & local talent. Based in Elizabethtown, the band originally played 3 concerts each summer at Freeman Lake Park. Beginning in 2009 the band changed its performance format to include providing a Christmas Concert in December followed by two additional performances, typically in the months of March and May.

Meet our director!
Mr. Dave Coffing, recently retired from the Nelson County Schools, is the director of the Heartland Winds. One of the original members of the band, Dave has laid his trumpet aside to pick up the baton again to direct the Heartland Winds. In addition to his roles as chief information officer and technology integration specialist with Nelson County schools, Dave has also served as both High School and Middle School director of bands and has held leadership positions with KMEA.
Tony Smith performs the Artie Shaw Clarinet Concerto at our"Patchwork of American Music" Concert in March.
