The Golden Age Of Radio, 1930s to the 1950s, was made possible with the invention of the Vacuum Tube. In the late 1950s it was the Transistor that brought an end to vacuum tube radios, but they didn't disappear, thousands of these old tube radios are still in use and collected around the world. In more recent years some of these collectors have reported hearing mysterious programs coming from these radios, radio signals that appear to have come from a different time! In 2018, the International Radio Science Laboratory began looking into this reported phenomena, and in October 2021 they released the following information.
"After years of research, we can confirm that the Haunted Radio phenomena, known technically as 'Random Cathode Detection' has been reproduced in our laboratory. There is still a lot we don't understand about the phenomena, but we do know that it's a recall of radio signals that have somehow been retained within the vacuum tubes themselves. Similar to the way a modern computer would store information in it's memory, we believe that the radio signal's passing through these tubes have manipulated the 'silicon atoms' in the tubes outer glass envelope, resulting in the storage of radio signal information. Given just the right conditions, these old radios can randomly recall that information and play radio signals they had processed years earlier."
