Conclusions: While the science is compelling and the evidence overwhelming, we come to an unexpected conclusion .... it appears the ghosts in these Haunted radios are getting a little help from modern technology!

Disclaimer: I would never take a 'working' antique radio and make these changes to it, all the radios in the collection were non-functioning and in need of restoration when I got them.
Something About How They Work:
None of the radios in the collection function as a "radio", but they do retain all of their original components, with the exception of the speaker, a modern speaker is installed.
A small Arduino computer and supporting circuitry is installed inside each radio. This includes a Micro SD-Card player, Audio Amplifier, LED Controller and IR Motion Detector, all powered by a small 12V DC, 2 Amp power supply.
The computer runs a software program that controls ... well everything! Many of the software settings can be adjusted to change, what audio files get played, the brightness and flicker of the lighting, the delay on motion sensor activation, how long the Long Play mode runs, etc.
The radio's original On/Off switch is used to power the computer on and off, and the radio's original tuning capacitor (tuning dial) is used to change the running audio program.
Haunted Mode: When powered on, the computer goes through a short boot-up sequence and then defaults to the "Haunted Mode" . This Haunted Mode has the radio "appearing" to be turned Off, however the IR Motion Sensor is just waiting to see a victim. On detecting motion in front of the radio, the ghosts are awakened and play a 35 second blast from the past with accompanying light show, then the radio returns to silent darkness, awaiting it's next victim. Haunted Mode plays randomly from 255 different 35 second audio files.
Long Play Mode: At any time after boot-up while the radio is in Haunted Mode, the user can turn the radio's Tuning Dial which will take the radio out of Haunted Mode and into "Long Play Mode". Long Play Mode plays continuously for three hours, selecting randomly from 1400 full-length audio files (individual songs, complete 30 minute shows, and commercials). All Audio files are from the period 1930 to 1959. After the 3 hour Long Play timer expires, the radio automatically switches back into Haunted Mode.
