Welcome to the Green Spacers!
A collaboration of volunteer group leads
Green Spacers is a collaboration of volunteer group leads whose members actively and directly participate in cleaning up streets and green spaces in areas that Birmingham City Council is responsible for.
Its purpose is to facilitate conversations between group leads, to discuss topics or issues that might affect, interest or help other volunteer groups.
By doing so, this will help groups to carry out their activities, to harness the support of larger numbers of volunteers from a wider area, or to coordinate shared efforts when seeking better services or support from councils or government.
Suggestions for sharing resource or planning joint activities (when allowed) are positively encouraged, as are praise, encouragement and ‘pats on the back’.
Conversations are polite, friendly and honest and have the interest of improving our city for all at its heart. As such, there will be no political affiliations and no sharing of material or links associated with any political parties or religious opinions. We are a broad ‘church / synagogue / mosque / meetinghouse’ from all backgrounds, careers, faiths and genders.
Discussions should, as often as possible, be expressing the collective opinion or interest of the group each person represents. This may not always be possible, as, understandably, groups will have members with very different opinions. Collaborators may, quite fairly, also wish to express their own opinions. Please always make it clear if this is the case.
If anyone has a financial or personal interest in a matter that will benefit other groups, this interest shall be expressed to others at the time the matter is raised. There are to be no hidden agendas or personal gains. Trade advertisements or links are to be allowed only in exceptional circumstances. The collaboration is for the betterment of the city and everyone living here.
Should a comment or posting cause offence or hurt, please politely explain why, so that the matter may be resolved amicably and without losing the benefits and insights of the group leads and groups we represent.
This website provides access to documents and links that the collaborators have felt are of interest to others, both group leads and members, and freely available to all. A map, highlighting green spaces – small and large – will enable a wider audience to get in touch with existing groups, as well as promote the use of and support for our ‘GREEN SPACE’ers 😊
