At Summit International Schools, our senior students have taken robotics to the next level!
In our advanced Robotics Class, students designed and built a Brick Sorter Robot that simulates a factory merchandising line. This intelligent system can classify bricks (representing different products) based on their color and specifications, just like in real industrial environments.
What they learned through this STEAM-powered project:
• Science: Sensor functionality and detection
• Technology: Block and Python-based programming
• Engineering: Designing mechanical sorting systems
• Arts: Aesthetic and functional design
• Math: Precision with angles, distances, and timing
How it works:
• A large motor + gyro sensor manages the horizontal movement, controlling angles and distances.
• A color sensor detects each brick’s specifications.
• A small motor ensures bricks are sorted and directed to the right area.
This hands-on project strengthened critical thinking, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving—equipping our students with skills for the future of tech and innovation!

🚀 Robotics Meets Precision Engineering! 🏎️🤖
At Summit International Schools, our senior students took on an exciting Project-Based Assessment (PBA) using the LEGO Spike Prime Robotics Kit, where they engineered a precision-driven autonomous driving base, and sensor activated garage!
The Challenge:
Students had to build and program a self-navigating robot that followed a predefined path between three precisely spaced roundabouts, leaving only 0.5 cm clearance on each side—any contact resulted in a 5-mark penalty!
The next task? Parking perfection! The parking slot left only 1 cm of space on each side, and the robot had to park for 10 seconds without touching the lines—failure meant another 5-mark deduction.
Smart Automation at Play:
🔹 After parking, the robot had to navigate to a sensor-activated garage using an ultrasonic sensor to detect the door.
🔹 The garage door itself was automated, programmed to detect the robot’s approach and open for 10 seconds before closing.
🔹 Inside the garage, the color sensor identified a black marker, ensuring precise stopping inside the designated zone.
Why Project-Based Assessments Matter?
Project-Based Assessments (PBAs) go beyond traditional tests, allowing students to apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary knowledge in real-world contexts. This hands-on experience helped students master sensor-based automation, precision programming, and mechanical design—essential skills for future STEM careers.
This was not just coding—it was innovation, teamwork, and real-world application at its finest! A huge well done to our students for demonstrating outstanding resilience, creativity, and technical expertise! 👏
Would you take on this challenge? Let’s talk robotics and the power of project-based learning in education! 🚀
