Welcome to the Glade.
Here you will find a diverse collection of beings. These beings are very similar to you and I, though there is one major distinction between us and them: They are the Mushroom Folk.
The Mushroom Folk come from all sorts of lands and places. But once every short while, they gather into a place they like to call the Glade. The location of the Glade can vary. But it is always an event to remember.
The Glade is a cosy cooperative LARP about a community of Mushroom Folk living in a forest.
It is a low combat, rules lite event focused on enchanting and immersive experiences.
You are an inhabitant of an enchanted forest, where many of the fungi, animals and plants are sentient and living together in scattered communities.
Every once in a while, the Mushroom Folk organise a festive gathering in a particularly magical location known as the Glade. And as we all know, Mushroom Folk really do know to have a party!
Of course, in addition to the simple pleasures of enjoying time together, gathering in the Glade is a perfect opportunity to get ahead on resolving important things that face the community: for example, organising the annual glow-worm harvest, mixing health tonics to keep the network healthy, tapping into the hive mind for insight, negotiating with the locals, giving thanks to the small & forgotten gods who bless this place - and perhaps solving a few of the forest's untapped mysteries...
You will play either as one of the Mushroom Folk celebrating in the Glade, or one of the wider community of plants or animals local to that place who interact with the Mushroom Folk looking to participate, give or receive. You'll encounter others during your time here - some like you, others very strange indeed - and perhaps even the Mushroom Chief himself will grace the gathering with his prescence.
Only time will tell... But one thing's for sure, no Mushroom worth their spores would miss a festival in the Glade!

As with our previous games, we will be operating The Glade on a low-combat, rules lite system.
When you buy your ticket you will select a character Archetype, which will give you access to certain unique activites or encounters. There are five mushroom archetypes, one animal archetype and one plant archetype. For more details, see the Building Your Character page.
The rest of your character building is almost completely free form. We've included some questions (prompts) on the page linked above, and we'll ask you to share your answer on the detailed booking form that will be circulated after ticketing, so that we can write your bespoke plot.
The remainder of the rules will be mostly around IC/OOC safety and to prevent game-breaking. Generally speaking, the higher quality of roleplay and effort, the more you can achieve in game.
This game will include themes such as: community, family, sharing, problem-solving, festivity, light, history, the quirks of daily life, equity.
It will explicitly not include themes such as: trauma, death, harm, fear, illness, war, discrimination, etc. We will be leaving all the problems of real life behind for this weekend!
Of course there may be disputes in-game, but we will be introducing simple mechanics for resolving accrimony with kindness or play; for example, the winner of a dispute might be the individual who gives the other the best and most genuine compliment.
We hope to strike the right balance of cute, festive, friendly, relaxed, thinky, solemn and silly for this LARP... Imagine a friendly festival where you could equally sing songs around a fire with your friends, go off solving mysteries, make offerings at a shrine, or try to beat a goose at tongue-twisters!
