William Alfred's Changes to Alcuin's Epitaph

I have signaled in red where William Alfred added to the original. The Alcuin Epitaph is a fine piece of verse, but what Alfred did to it transformed it into something stunning and, for me, unforgettable. If anyone here would like a detailed account of just what Alfred changed, how he changed it, and, in my opinion, why he did so, please write to me. To offer such analysis unsolicited might sound a bit pedantic.
