The  Feelings  Bot  was  originally  created  by  a  9 - year - old   boy  in  Art  Therapy.  He  was enrolled  in  Art  Therapy  to  help  him  process  his  feelings  about  parenting  time  with  his  dad, and  help  with  the  stress  of  going  to  court  to  talk  to  the  judge.  His  mother  always  told  him,  from  a  very  young  age,  that when  your  brain  is  full  of  feelings  you  cannot  think  about  anything  else.   His  mom said  to  him  that  it  is  important  to  talk  about  your  feelings  so  you  don’t  explode.   We  would  have this  conversation  after  almost  every  explosive  behavior  incident.

At the height of the young  boys  anger  outbursts,  his  mother  shared  with  his  art  therapist  her  concern  about  his  increased  short  fuse.  During  one  therapy  session,  his  therapist  asked  him to identify  three  feelings  he  wanted  to  make (he  always  raided  the  recycling  bin  to  make his  art  creations).  He  picked  happy,  sad,  and  mad.  The  Feelings  Bot is  his  interpretation  of  mad.

His  art  has  helped  him  tremendously  to  understand  what  a  brain  full  of  feelings  looks  like,  what  an explosion looks like,  and  that  talking  about  your  feelings  really  does  make  you  feel  better.  He  learned  how  to  use  his  words  instead  of  acting  out  his  feelings.   Since  this  creation  has  helped  him  so  much,  together  we wanted  to  help  as  many  kids  as  possible  manage  and  understand their feelings too!  The  rest  is  history!
