In Chinese culture, Zodiac signs have been used to determine compatibility in all relationships. Zodiac signs are associated with certain personality traits and characteristics corresponding to their animal. Most signs are compatible with each other, but some zodiacs are likely to not get along. Chinese Zodiac signs are also used to determine compatibility in love, marriage, and relationships.
Within the Chinese Zodiac there are sub groups . These are small groups of three animals each divided within the twelve zodiac signs who can be well matched and like-minded or incompatible and unsuitable for each other.
For the compatible Zodiacs, the sub groups are San He 三合 and Liu He 六合. San He 三合 refers to the four compatible groups of animals divided within the Zodiac. These animals are friends, and the combination creates light and righteousness. In these groups, the three animals could live harmoniously because they give good luck to each other. San He 三合 could also mean three harmonies or triple harmony. On the other hand, Liu He 六合 divides the Chinese Zodiac into six parts. The animals in each group are divided corresponding to their Yin and Yang of the other six animals. For example, the two animals in the same group could get along well and give each other a great or secret help no matter in love life or career.
In contrast, the incompatible Zodiac signs consist of Liu Chong 六冲, Liu Hai 六害, Xiang Xing 相刑 and Zi Xing 自刑. Liu Chong 六冲 is based on the relationship of the 12 earthly branches which means every (six) animals will conflict each other. These six conflicting groups should not be together for there is high risk of different opinions, disagreements, quarrels or unhappiness after marriage. Liu Hai 六害 refers to the six harming groups. The zodiac signs in these groups usually harm each other resulting in them not wanting to stay together. Xiang Xing 相刑 is the punishment groups. These are zodiacs that are particularly conflicting with each other. Zi Xing 自刑 refers to the four punishment signs. These are the four zodiac signs that create a self-inflicting problem of obstruction. These Zodiacs are deadly when they are with their own sign, therefore the Chinese at all costs refrain from pairing incompatible signs. If the wrong Zodiacs are put together, it can lead to many problems in the relationship such as money loss, breaking up with a partner, or suffering from an illness.
