SAVAGE MIND is an independent bookshop, cultural space, and publishing entity based in the Bikol region. Founded in 2018 by writer and filmmaker Kristian Sendon Cordero and housed in an ancestral home in Naga City, it has been described by the Philippine Daily Inquirer as “the creative heart of the city.” Its publishing program focuses on Bikol and Philippine literature, producing original works and translations of canonical world texts into local languages to advance multilingual literary production.
In addition to publishing, Savage Mind functions as a cultural institution. It holds the archival materials of poet Luis Cabalquinto; operates Kamarin, an art gallery dedicated to visual artists and serves as a venue for literary, visual, cinematic, and theatrical events, as well as other performances. Its advocacy is anchored in the recognition of regional languages as central to cultural knowledge, intellectual discourse, and the formation of creative communities built on the principle of co-creative practices.
