Between 2008 and 2016, it was originally planned to make a film adaptation of Garth Ennis comic book series The Boys, having been in various stages of development. Columbia Pictures was initially the studio in charge to bring the adaptation with a budget of $100 million and Adam McKay as the director. However the project was abandoned due to a series of creatives differences between the studio and McKay. However the production of the film was revived by Paramount Pictures, having managed to get the rights of the project in August 2012,[19][20][21] but then in April 2016, it was announced that Cinemax would be developing a television series adaptation of the comic book instead, cancelling the original plans for a film adaptation. While they were working for the series Preacher which is also based on a comic book series written by Ennis, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen were approached and then recruited to work for the series as the executive producers and directors for the pilot episode.[22] During a meeting with Goldberg and Rogen, Eric Kripke who is a longtime fan of Ennis work was hired to be the series showrunner and head writer after he reclaimed the duo for not having him involved in the Preacher series during a meeting with them at Point Grey Pictures.[23]

In November 2017, Amazon acquired the rights to make the television adaptation of the series,[24][25] after it was confirmed that the series would not be moving forward at Cinemax due to buget issues, with Kripke Goldberg and Rogen allowed to find a new distributor for the series.[26][27] Sharon Tal Yguado who was hired that same year to supervise future franchises made by Amazon, expressed her hopes that the television series would take a different take on the superhero genre in a time where Hollywood is saturated with multiple superhero shows, given that the nature comics book series was totally different from other comics.[28] That same day, Amazon made greenlight the production of the first season confirming that it would consist of eight episodes, with each one being produced at an estimated budget of $11.2 million,[29] while also giving the commitment to make the series to run for at least five seasons as Kripke was already developing ideas for this to happen.[30] The production of the series was expected to begin at the spring of 2018 as part of a planned release at the year 2019.[31] At the time, Amazon was failing to get hits with its originals which led them to make several deals with auspices from other successful series hoping to make the next big genre drama hit show like Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Stranger Things.[32]

In July 2019, it was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con that the series would be getting a second season just a week before the series premiere,[33][34] with Kripke having already starting to write the scripts just before the series premiere.[35] In December 2019, it was confirmed that the season would be getting released at the year of 2020 through a teaser trailer,[36] while another trailer released at June of that year confirmed that the second season would be premiering that September.[37][38] Seeking to make the series to be a topic of conversation for a longer period of time, Kripke and the producers convinced Amazon to release the episode of the series on a weekly basis in the hopes that the series would replicate the success of other series that also were released in that way such as The Handmaid's Tale and The Mandalorian.[39][40] Just a month later, at July it was announced that the series was being renewed for a third season at the aftershow hosted by Aisha Tyler for the 2020 San Diego Comic-Con@Home,[41][42] to which Kripke revealed in October that he was already writing the scripts during the run of the second season,[43] while Amazon was already announcing their spin-off Gen V (2023)[44][45] that would serve as a bridge between the third season and fourth season,[46][47] with the latter being announced in June 2022,[48][49] with a planned release in 2024.[15]

The Boys was originally planned to have all the eight episodes of the first season released on Amazon Prime Video on July 26, 2019,[128] but it premiered just a few hours earlier despite keeping the former date as the official one.[129] The second season also consisting of eight episodes, was confirmed to that it would be released at a weekly basis instead of release the entire season as a whole the same day, debuting the first three episodes on September 4, 2020, and the rest debuting on a weekly basis until the season finale on October 9.[130] On January 6, 2022, it was reported that the third season would premiere on June 3, 2022, with the first 3 episodes available immediately and the rest debuting on a weekly basis until the season finale on July 8.[131]

A companion short film titled Butcher, set between the first and second season, was released on September 10, 2020, with Karl Urban reprising his role as Billy Butcher.[132][133] Characters from The Boys also appeared in an episode of Death Battle! sponsored by Amazon Prime Video, which was released on September 17, 2020.[134][135]

In October 2019, Nielsen announced it had begun tracking viewership of Amazon Prime programs. It said The Boys had attracted 8 million total viewers in its first 10 days of release, making it one of the most successful original programs on Amazon Prime.[144] For the second season, the first three episodes drew a 7.2 percent share of streams relative to the top 100 most-watched TV shows on Reelgood within its opening weekend, beating the third season of Stranger Things (5.8 percent) and The Mandalorian (4.4 percent).[145] The show's audience increased 89 percent compared to the first season. Nielsen ratings showed that 891 million minutes of the show had been watched, placing it number three on the Nielsen list, just behind Cobra Kai (2.17 billion minutes) and Lucifer (1.42 billion minutes).[146][147] It became the first non-Netflix show to appear on the Nielsen Top 10 Streaming Shows list.[148][149]

On December 5, 2021, at the Brazil Comic-Con, Prime Video announced that The Boys Presents: Diabolical, an animated anthology series, had been given an eight-episode series order.[173] On January 18, 2022, it was announced that the series would premiere on March 4, 2022.[174]

Ahead of the premiere of the third season, the series had released video segments in the form of in-universe news reports from the Vought News Network channel on YouTube, titled Seven on 7 with Cameron Coleman. Each of the seven segments contains seven stories that tease events in upcoming episodes and introduce new cast members, and acts as a bridge between Season 2 and 3. Matthew Edison, who plays news anchor Cameron Coleman, also appears in the third season of the series.[182]

On October 3, 2020, Eric Kripke said that the in-universe pornographic superhero film scenes briefly glimpsed in the second season The Boys episode "Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker" had been produced in full, expressing interest in releasing them under the name Supe Porn to the website of the same name, registered to Sony Pictures,[183] as well as supposedly requesting Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Antony Starr and the other followers of his Twitter page to join him in petitioning Prime Video and Amazon Studios to allow the potential web series to be uploaded.[184] Later on, a fictional sex toy online store was added to the website, with a collection of products such as The StarMight Plug and Translucent's Glass Dildo. At the bottom of the website there is a message saying that its contents are for entertainment purpose only and not actually for sale.[185]

We had four glorious episodes of Josh, Zac, and Brennan making stupid/amazing sounds based on prompts from Sam. We also had one episode where we had a substitute for Zac by some no-name no-talent guy named Michael Winslow for some reason (sarcasm of course but you never know if people can tell these days).

So the question is... out of the four episodes in this glorious collection - which is your favorite? Feel free to provide comments on which particular pieces you think were the most amazing and influential in your decision.

Last week, I wondered if they were going to be releasing Play it Cool, Guys in three episode blocks and now I have my answer. That answer is no! So if you are looking for quick little 1-minute episodes to round off an evening, this is a decent pick.

So, I decided to do something a bit different for ChristmasGuys. We had our friend Brittany Lyseng to talk about how some ofour favorite guys celebrate the holiday. We looked at some swingertraditions and christmas list, then we looked to see what they areselling on The Chivery followed by some Pastafarians,... 2351a5e196
