Welcome to my website.
My name is Thai Nguyen (Nguyễn Thành Thái in Vietnamese, Thái Thành Nguyễn in publication, and Thanh Thai Nguyen in legal documents). I am an assistant professor in mathematics at the University of Dayton.
Previously, I was a Britton postdoctoral fellow at McMaster University, working in Combinatorial Algebraic Geometry group with Dr. Megumi Harada, Dr. Jenna Rajchgot, and Dr. Adam Van Tuyl. Prior to that, I completed my PhD degree at Tulane University. My advisor is Dr. Tài Huy Hà.
I am interested in combinatorial and computational aspects of commutative algebra and its interactions with combinatorics and geometry. My current research topics include asymptotic behavior of algebraic properties and invariants of families of ideals, polynomial interpolation questions involving symbolic powers of ideals of points, as well as algebra and combinatorics of monomial ideals and binomial ideals. For more information, please see my Research page.
I am teaching MTH 168 (Calculus I for Engineering) and MTH 148 (Calculus I for Life Sciences) in Fall 2025.
