Introduction
Digital citizenship
Digital citizenship refers to the safe and responsible conduct on digital environments. By digital environments we mean the internet in general and all its components. Avoiding morally bad behaviours is what is desired from every digital citizen. Morally bad behaviours include cyberbullying, copyright infringement, and invasion of digital privacy. Being media and information literate is important because one get to understand what is wrong and what is right in digital spaces, and hence they can avoid the bad behaviours in digital spaces. In a world that is constantly changing and becoming more and more digital, it is important for learners to understand how to be a good digital citizen and why it is important. The focus of this website is to unpack the digital citizen concepts of Cyberbullying, Ethics/Copyright, Privacy, Media Literacy, Information Literacy, and Communication & Collaboration. Having an understnding of these terms will be very crucial for the Computer Applications Technology students as they will be working with computers a lot, and will need to understand how to be responsible digital citizens.

About me
Mr. Thabang Sibisi
Thabang Sibisi is a prospective ICT specialist in education. I am a first-year student at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, studying towards a Bachelor of Education in Senior and FET phase degree. I am majoring in Mathematics and Information and communication technology (ICT). I grew up in a rural area of Nqutu, Nondweni village, and I attended a poorly resourced school, Ndlelanhle Secondary School where I completed my matric.
My passion has always been mathematics education and information technology. When I arrived at the University of Johannesburg, I got the chance to combine both of the areas of my interest. As a person who attended a poorly resourced school, I know very well the struggles in rural areas. I hope to make a difference with this website by encouraging students to take the ICT fields of study, also known as Computer Applications Technology in schools (CAT). The skills they will obtain there will be crucial in the eternal information age.
Furthermore, as a teacher I want other students to learn from me a crucial skill of digital citizenship, and understand the digital concepts they need to be better digital citizens.
