I have been animating for roughly 3 years. I begun my journey years ago but I never considered myself an animator until I actually begun taking interest in animatin and specifically directing animated films.
Thus my journey began as I spent 9.99 on a app called ToonSquid and started messing around with the software not knowing what I was getting myself into. Hey I gotta start somewhere right?
So far I've directed a short film called "The Wolf And The Vixen", my first short Film, and currently working on my second short film "Mason Origins". On this page, you'll see the development process of upcoming or already released short films from how they go from storyboard, to animatic, to the final animating and effects. more or less, My process on how I tackle films.
Wolf and the vixen started as a concept from almost 2 years ago in a color pencil project in beginning drawing in College. From there I decided this was gonna be my first project.
When I got to work, my approach for the idea was for the animals to not speak, but rather only show emotion through the characters expressions and the music. So i first got to work on making concept art on Procreate of "Winston" and "Vixie".
Man....my old art style was ass.
After I got the gist of what I wanted to make, I got to work on a storyboard, I sketched each panel / frame into a sketch book from beginning to end. I had no script, I usually just wing it with these ideas or stories and just pray that it works. regardless, with what I had, I turned that into an animatic with the storyboard as a reference.
While the reception of the animatic was a success, I wasn't satisfied with the climax, the bear fight just kinda felt too action packed, and it felt too out of place in the story I wanted to tell.
So I scrapped the bear fight and replaced it with one of the most heartbreaking scenes I wrote in storytelling, "Winston's Passing". I wrote this scene as a parallel to my grandpas passing roughly two years ago, and roughly a year into the production of the short. Hense the design change to Winston when hes a senior, it’s a design reference to my grandpa having a big bushy mustache in real life.
After a rewrite, and animating the scene with no animatic for reference, I finished the films animation in roughy 3-4 weeks. and then it went to post production where my friend, Mark Taylor, composed the short. and another fellow buddy Ralph, did sound design for the short.
Then on june 12th, 2025, the short film was premiered on Youtube and was shown off at the RCC Animation showcase! we didn’t win an award :(
For being my first short film, I've actually was satisfied with the reception overall. Sure the film isn't perfect, but it works as a emotional yet heartfelt story about a forever bond that will live inside your heart. And I couldnt be more happier that this film touched people and helped them rememebr their loved ones. Plus it was funny to hear my peers cry when Winston died lol.
Shortly after I finished the storyboard, the next step was VA's. Which I was scared to do since I've never done something on this level before. I had relativly low Budget and I don’t make much, so I had to make all roles of Michelle, Sparky and Mason unpaid roles. Thus began me using Casting Call Club to find VA's. As I not only had to consider waiting days, but also had to consider that these are my characters the VA's are voicing, I can't just pick the first to audition. They have to sound the part.
The days went by til I got auditions for both Mason and Sparky pretty quickly. and I found my two guys, Kenny Loui as Sparky and PhantomJay as Mason. There was only one left I was worried about was Michelle. But then I struck gold, when Katey Auditioned.
After all roles were casted, we've met in a server, got sessions done, and I created the Animatic.
As of now the project remains in it's animation phase, as the constant weight and burnout has pushed me to put this project on a short halt for now to work on another shorter project to hopefully motivate me back into Mason Origins. But for now, here are some screenshots of BTS for the animation. as well as character concepts from the earlier designs to the newer art style change.
Things could change when I get back into this film. look forward to the final product tho.
This project is actually a remake of a 2 year old animated video I made. technically my first short film. sorta. this was during the time I was playing Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope, and i played the Rayman DLC, where the Phantom returned and roasted the hell out of Rayman.
Then, idea struck. I took Reboot Freddy, dont ask, its a whole thing, and other characters like Francine and put the two in a sort of AU where freddy roasted Francine. I decided that I was gonna do both acts since I love both songs. Here are both acts from 2023!
Now in 2026, I decided to remake this as a way to get back into animation to work on much bigger and overwhelming projects. I first began with the storyboard much like I did for Vixen, and Mason. And used the audio from the game as a template for now since I wrote new lyrics and that a instrumental was available for me that made my job easier. Here are some Concepts of the Cast and some expression sheets.
After I Finished the Story Board, I got to work on the animatic, which I was super proud of when I finished both acts, as well as adding in the Cover dub I did myself as Freddy. I was already digging the redesgins of Francine, Vixie and Freddy, but seeing them in action in the Animatic just proved my point on why this animation was being remade, to show how much my style changed. Regardless, the Animatic got the Glow up it needed, and I'm super happy about the results.
Current state of the project is test animations which will be shown here soon when I get those done. Regardless, I'm excited to reanimate this one, it was one of my favorite Animated projects I made and was my first fully colored animation on the software.
