I'm Tessina.

I've worked as a freelance project manager since 2012 on various personal and side projects. Because these were not official or long-term assignments, I include them in my portfolio, not my product/project management resume.

In the summer of 2024, I also completed a Master of Science in IT Management and aced the PMI's CAPM exam. While working on Google's AI XWF team, my tech lead provided me with multiple opportunities to apply what I learned in various roles, including SME, team lead for "UltraViolet," and QA.

After leaving the Google XWF team, I served as the GenAI Content Product Manager on an experimental newsletter product at GenAI.Works. I will complete my last day on July 4, 2025.

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT: Content Development

AI NEWSLETTER SEGMENTS (2025)

From January - July 2025, I served as the content product manager on an experimental newsletter series that created add-on AI verticals to the company's general Beehiiv newsletter. I was also the Product Owner and sole senior technical writer behind the AI Ethics segment in this experimental series. The product was taken over by another team in July 2025.

Tasks included:

Create a Lean Canvas to document the "North Star," assumptions, metrics, and progress.
Create the product requirements document.
Create a publishing schedule to regularize submissions.
Create an author tracking system to ensure on-time submissions.
Lead the Community Management team, which handles author and reader engagement.
Review and edit 10,000 words of content every week.
Conduct quantitative research via surveys and A/B testing.
Conduct qualitative research via surveys, interviews, and community or social media listening.
Review and approve social media and marketing assets, such as banners, author cards, bios, etc.
Review and approve visual designs for each newsletter.
Collaborate with the Senior UX Designer to design and build the newsletter website on Beehiiv.
Collaborate with the Beehiiv team to flag issues with functionality and security on the landing page.
Research and write engaging content for the AI Ethics line, which is the #3 line of 10 AI segments.

Project Management: THE MOREAU WITCHES (2018)

I served as the project manager for the publishing process of this 2018 paranormal murder mystery novel.

Tasks included:

Building a budget
Coordinating the timeline and completion process to meet the deadlines:
- - Halloween for the digital copy
  - Christmas for the physical copy
Finding contractors, specifically:
- - 3 editors
  - 1 visual artist,
  - 1 graphic designer
  - 1 typographer
Completing the process of copyrighting the novel and getting its ISBN (book registration codes)
Publishing the novel on Amazon Kindle and later as a physical novel.
Submitting the novel to a distribution network that included Walmart, Barnes & Noble, etc.
Completing reviews and quality inspections at each completed task or step of the publishing process
Building out an online store with merchandise to support book sales

Below are items from the online e-commerce store. The store was set up for drop-shipping so all messages, printing, and delivery are automated. I completed that automation process myself.

I served as the project manager for this company's branding and WordPress development. Sadly, they didn't survive the pandemic, and I didn't save many high-quality artefacts of the final product. My 5-person team delivered the following:

Project Management: SCARLET (2024)

SCARLET was my home in Atlanta. I Airbnbed it out while traveling full-time from the summer of 2020 to the summer of 2024. In September 2024, Hurricane Helene flooded the suite. The insurance company denied the claim, so we had to budget for and complete the renovation without their assistance.

The apartment took in roughly 6 inches of water, and by 1 AM to sunrise, about 2-4 inches were sitting on the floor, and we could not get any more of it out. It was a devastating situation. We lost furniture, equipment, appliances, and items of sentimental value.

AFTER THE REPAIRS

We completed this work in less than 30 days as a team. Here are some of the tasks completed:

Remove the water and moisture from the suite.
Build a budget to cover the cost of repairs.
Build a team to make repairs using family, friends, and qualified contractors for specialized roles.
Identify all damaged items and the cost of replacing them versus what we could save.
Determine what could be replaced and what losses we would have to absorb.
Repaint the floors that had been stripped from all the water.
Repurchase furniture made from metal this time, as we learned that none of the previous furnishings with metal legs were damaged (e.g., the bookshelf).
Retake photos for the listing to show how the apartment looks currently and re-post them.

RESULT: The Airbnb suite was back online in 30 days and we've booked three guests since. We recovered about 80% of our cost in 3 months.

Product Management: BLUEBERRY (2023)

After successfully launching SCARLET in 2020, my mother and Airbnb co-host decided that she would like to convert another part of the home for herself. We initially had a two-car garage home, and she converted the larger half into a beautiful Airbnb. I'm the one who generally has an eye for themes, design, and branding, so this became my part of the product to manage.

I negotiated for a budget 3x what my mother initially planned to spend and did pricing research to determine what the suite would likely attract in monthly rent. This also required looking at the average vacancy rates for our area, which was also informed by the vacancy rates for SCARLET. Here's the final product.

BEFORE RENOVATIONS

This is what our garage looked like before we renovated it and turned it into an apartment with a solid divider. That renovation converted our 2-car garage into a 1-car garage and a studio apartment.

Cursive Blue RVs: Out of the Office & Into the Wild

My Master of Science in IT Management at Western Governors University focused primarily on IT project management. For my capstone, I studied the situation of an indie RV company whose manager issued an RTO after a cybersecurity threat. The team threatened to quit if forced to return to the office, so the IT manager proposed a solution that would secure the IT infrastructure while allowing the team to remain remote.

Note that the proposal and post-implementation project don't follow the usual project management outline because it had to follow research guidelines as a capstone for grad school. There's also a lot of repetition (as required by WGU) so that each section is comprehensive on its own, which is perfect for recruiters who only want to see specific sections.

The deliverables in the submission looked very professional and could pass as actual documents in a real-world setting.
