Teaching with TGfU and
task cards
Welcome to our innovative online platform, crafted by a team of University of Victoria students in the School of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education alongside our professor Dr Tim Hopper. Our website is a collaborative endeavour, driven by the goal of empowering educators with tools and strategies drawing on a teaching games for understanding (TGfU) approach.

Using a TGfU model, we present task cards curated to facilitate lesson planning across a range of games that can be applied from grade 6 and up. Our platform organizes games into introductory modified games that exaggerate a tactical problem that can be addressed with off-the-ball movements and on the-ball-skill. These on-the ball skills are modelled with a series of skill based task cards.
Whether you seek inspiration for task progressions with skill development from task progressions or engaging drills to practice skills, our website seeks to offer insights on innovative teaching techniques for comprehensive skill development. Join us in revolutionizing the art of teaching and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement in classrooms worldwide. Together, let's unleash the full potential of every student.
