Diversity Day
An outing to Joo Chiat and Katong. In 2011, the vicinity surrounding Joo Chiat Road was declared Singapore's first Heritage Town to promote its Peranakan culture.
Joo Chiat Road is an arterial road and a residential conservation area in the eastern part of Singapore, and is located between Geylang Serai and Marine Parade Road. It is mainly bounded by conserved shophouses that are colourfully painted on both sides of the road.
Local vibes
Singapore's Chinatown is among the city's most atmospheric areas. It's famous for its colourful heritage buildings, hiding old Chinese shophouses. The architecture hearkens back to a bygone era in Singapore's history. The Singapore City Gallery showcases Singapore's dramatic transformation over the past 50 years, to become one of the most liveable cities in Asia.
Get lost in the sights and sounds of bustling Chinatown and learn all about the culture and practices of early Chinese settlers. You’ll explore Chinatown on foot as you pass by intriguing architecture like Thian Hock Keng Temple, Singapore’s oldest Hokkien temple. The tour includes entry to the Chinatown Heritage Centre. You can also pick up souvenirs from street stalls around the precinct and snap a selfie in front of a giant red clog.
