I am currently an assistant professor of Statistics at the University of South Carolina. I joined the Department of Statistics in 2022. Right after I earned my Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the supervision of Professor Jun ZHU. I received my B.S. and M.Phil. in Statistics from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where I worked with Professor Chun Yip YAU. Prior to my tertiary education, I completed my entire secondary education at the Diocesan Boys' School. In addition, I spent one year at Michigan State University for the Ph.D. program in Statistics. I also worked as a government statistician for the Census and Statistics Department and human resources analyst for Aon Hewitt.
My research concerns the development of novel methodologies for data with dependence and big volume, with theoretical soundness and computational scalability ensured through different tools and techniques from various fields of science. I focus on spatial, spatiotemporal, and environmental statistics. Moreover, I have worked on different interdisciplinary research projects on statistical consulting, applications in public health, epidemiology, machine learning, and data science.
