Polygamy- The Ibo culture practices polygamy, meaning that one man has many wives. The norm for men is to have many wives, but it is taboo for women to have more than one husband.
More wives = more success, as more wifes = more children
Like other important men in his village, Okonkwo's high status is demonstrated by the number of wives he has and how many children he fathers
Dominance- Men are the dominant figures in the culture. Men are respected more where as the women have to abide by what the men say. As the dominant figure men demand something of a woman and expect them to abide by it. If the woman does not listen to what the men say, than the man can beat the woman without question, even the wives.
Housing- The husband will live in his obi alone, where as the women live in their huts around the husband with their kids that they had with the husband.
Children- The children in the tribe would tend to the animals and pick the crops in their community. They would listen to the men in the tribe and do as what they're told.
