textPlus is an alternative app for making calls and sending messages for free. You can call and send messages to other users on the app for free, whereas to communicate with other phone numbers, you'll have to accumulate credit.

textPlus gives you a free phone number to send unlimited SMS and MMS to friends in the United States and Canada. When you register, you'll have the option to get one of these numbers by entering the state and zip code for the number you want.

Yes, the phone number you get with textPlus is real. Although it's free and obtained through the app, anyone who receives messages or phone calls from you will see your phone number, which is new and unique to you.

I don't mind adds that much, but when they're a text message it's reallly annoying. Is there a hack to remove textplus adds? I mainly want it to stop telling me to text on holidays and stupid promotional offers. Is there just a better text messenger (for iOS and others). I'd prefer to just hack textplus to keep my current number, but I'll settle for something that at least doesn't spam texts to me.

A couple of weeks ago I met with the CEO of TextPlus, and wrote up my experience here. I mentioned he has some news coming, and this is it: TextPlus, which is a popular free text messaging service, is launching free calling between TextPlus members today. Calling to regular lines is pretty cheap to boot (like 99 cents for 40 minutes).

textPlus brings free, ad-supported real, group and Community texting to the iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Android phones through both its mobile application, and permanent short code, 60611 and real phone numbers.

textPlus launched in 2009. Its network includes smartphones and feature phones to span over 34 million users. Available on all iDevices and Android phones, textPlus has been downloaded 12.5 million times, has sent over 6 billion messages and adds on average about 70 thousand new users per day.

TextPlus is a Palm OS enhancement that can significantly improve the speed and accuracy of text entry on your Palm device. TextPlus supports intelligent dictionary-based suggestion of words and phrases to speed up your text entry.

textPlus, a leading provider of free mobile communications worldwide, today announced it has raised $18 million in capital led by The Raine Group, the global merchant bank focused exclusively on entertainment, digital media and sports.

Reaching out to enterprise companies would appear to be a logical step for textPlus. Sure, it has already 50 million users, but the company needs to find bigger revenue generation streams than simply charging its users to make long-distance phone calls. Even services like Twilio have started to find ways to appeal to the enterprise customers.

We have heard that in the next few months, textPlus will expand its service and launch in Europe. Where specifically remains to be seen, but it will most likely be in countries widespread WiFi adoption and reliable 3G and 4G mobile data networks. An upcoming international expansion makes all the more sense given that the company hinted at new launches when it raised its $18 million Series D round in October.

Nextplus is intended to become the next communications app choice for the 70 million-plus current users of textPlus, which launched in 2009. The company said the two apps will coexist for the indefinite future.

This future, of course, is visible to others as well. Some observers expect Facebook to build WhatsApp into a pseudo-telco, and services like Viber or Skype clearly have similar ambitions. How does textPlus differ?

An innovative research program was devised to investigate the interactive effect of instructional strategies enhanced with text-plus-textual metaphors or text-plus-graphical metaphors, and cognitive style on the acquisition of programming concepts. The Cognitive Styles Analysis (CSA) program (Riding,1991) was used to establish the participants' cognitive style. The QUEST Interactive Test Analysis System (Adams and Khoo,1996) provided the cognitive performance measuring tool, which ensured an absence of error measurement in the programming knowledge testing instruments. Therefore, reliability of the instrumentation was assured through the calibration techniques utilized by the QUEST estimate; providing predictability of the research design. A means analysis of the QUEST data, using the Cohen (1977) approach to size effect and statistical power further quantified the significance of the findings. The experimental methodology adopted for this research links the disciplines of instructional science, cognitive psychology, and objective measurement to provide reliable mechanisms for beneficial use in the evaluation of cognitive performance by the education, training and development sectors. Furthermore, the research outcomes will be of interest to educators, cognitive psychologists, communications engineers, and computer scientists specializing in computer-human interactions.

Responding to trends discovered through retention analysis, social networking and messaging app textPlus implemented Appboy-powered onboarding campaigns to increase retention rates by 15 percent over prior efforts.

"Executing multichannel onboarding campaigns has led to a noticeable improvement in retention," said Nanea Reeves, president and chief operations officer at textPlus, in a statement. "Retention data has contributed greatly to keeping users engaged and increasing the lifetime value of our customer base." ff782bc1db
