Chapter One
Thunder Does Not Ask
Ā
Zeus threw another grape at the television, the small round fruit bouncing off the screen and hitting the ground with a squishing noise.
Ā
His favourite pastime apart from drinking the same drink the fruit made from archangel Michaelās province of the vines, fairy wine.
Ā
āShocking, isnāt it?ā He leaned in closer, āThe way Kirsty Hall from Sunshine News scandalous your poor granddaughter.ā
āā¦And finally tonight, a developing story that continues to blur the line between myth, mystery, and modern media.
Grace Williams ā already the subject of intense speculation following her unexpected and unexplained appearance at Heavenās Gates two years ago ā has now been officially designated an Earth Angel, specifically of the rare White Light classification.
The announcement has sent shockwaves through both celestial and Earthly circles. Publishers are reportedly lining up to secure the rights to her story, capitalising on the renewed attention surrounding the current bestseller Grace Williams: Memoirs, written by Wilbur Smith.
The intrigue deepened earlier today when this station exclusively interviewed her uncle, Martin Williams, who spoke candidly about Graceās life before ā and after ā her extraordinary transformation.
As questions mount about who Grace Williams truly is, where she came from, and what her presence means for the world going forward, one thing is certain: this is a story far from over.
Up next, weāll be joined by Wilbur Smith himself to discuss the book that has reignited global fascination and to ask whether a followāup is already in the works.
Stay with us.
This is Kirsty Hall, reporting for Sunshine News.ā
Ā
The segment ended with an ad break about some Italian restaurant down the hill.
Ā
āI want to meet your granddaughter.ā Zeus said, not asking, commanding.
Ā
Paul looked over at the god, who was laughing as he threw another grape at the Italian man promoting his food. The air around him rolling like deep thunder from the boom of his voice.
Ā
āSir, Iām not sure I can. Sheās difficult to get to now sheās moved out of archangel Michaelās house.ā
Ā
āNonsense man.ā Zeus thundered. āSheās your granddaughter isnāt she. You canāt let the other grandparents get all the action now can you?ā
Ā
āI guess not.ā Paul contemplated unsure how to proceed.Ā
Ā
Grace had chosen to go live with her favourite uncle on their side of the family and he had not heard from her since she had been fully rejoined and returned to Earth. Perhaps he could have chosen to be a participant in the divine intervention program but they were no longer taking new applicants.
Ā
Dangerous, was the rumour on the street.
Ā
Threats of predators not only to the Earth living relatives of those in the program but also to the Heaven participants, one woman having been attacked on her way to catch the flotilla to start her shift.Ā
Ā
āI will see what I can do.ā Paul made no promises.
Ā
He knew he should feel intimated by this god who had summoned him but he was not his God.
Ā
Not from his Heaven.
Ā
So instead, he felt a certain sense of calm. Had it been his God who had called him he doubted heād be able to hold it together.
Ā
āGrace.ā Paul said thoughtfully. āIs an angel in her own right. I cannot just demand her to appear. That and the fact she is still living, back on Earth now, no longer at her uncleās or any Heaven home she will be hard to convince.ā
Ā
āAnd what of archangel Michael? Gossip says the two of them are quite⦠close⦠shall we say. Perhaps if you get him on side he can convince her. I need to meet her.ā Zeus offered in a backward way.
Ā
Paul fiddled with the cuff of his shirt, a tuft of brown hair falling across his forehead as he did so. Unlike Charles, Graceās other grandfather who had chosen to remain as he was when he passed, brown hair tinged with grey and protruding belly, Paul had decided to go with his younger years, his taunt twenty something year old navy body belying its hidden muscles underneath his blue shirt and grey trousers.
Ā
āIāll do my best.ā He added before leaving, the fairy wine Zeus insisted he drink playing heavily on his body.
Ā
Synopsis-
They believed love could protect the living.
The predator believed it could be exploited.
Grace has rebuilt balance on consentāclosing ancient corridors of domination, driving predators back, and forcing the Universe itself to change.
Now she is Earthās archangel, bound not to command, but to choose.
Nature begins to heal. The afterlife destabilizes. White light no longer obeys old rules. As systems fracture under restraint, predatory forces older than angels begin to stirābeings that thrived before mercy, before law, before love was allowed to matter.
When a new kind of breach appears, one that belongs to no known realm, Grace is forced to face the truth she has been avoiding.
Being a bridge does not make her safe.
It makes her a battleground.
Because the greatest threat is no longer predation.
It is what happens when no one can be commandedāand predators learn to wait.
