I am a Senior Researcher working on the ethics of infectious disease, and specifically pandemic preparedness, response and surveillance, as a member of the Ethox Centre at the University of Oxford, and the Pandemic Sciences Institute at the University of Oxford. I am also a Research Fellow at Reuben College, Oxford. My primary research interests include ethical questions surrounding antimicrobial resistance, coercive public health measures, emerging infectious diseases, and new technologies for pathogen and health surveillance.
My DPhil research was completed in 2022. I proposed an ethical framework for assessing genetic enhancements for humans. I crossed the sub-disciplines of public health ethics and reproductive ethics to suggest a new approach to regulation of prospective enhancements.
My areas of specialisation in practical ethics teaching include human enhancement, genetic technologies, collective-oriented public health, and reproductive technologies. Broader areas of competence include ethics, metaethics, introductory philosophy and philosophy of science.
