This work involved investigating the problem of antimicrobial resistance in terms of its significance, neglectedness, and tractability. The work aimed to inform funding priorities for Open Philanthropy, an effective altruist funding organisation. I reviewed literature and assessed the scale of the problem, existing organisations aiming at addressing it, and the best actions available. The work was published as a blog post on the EA Forum, accessible here: https://forum.effectivealtruism.org/posts/SxYoZGXbrQ3XGvpLY/cause-exploration-prize-antimicrobial-resistance#_edn7
Public discussion of ethical issues can be an important temperature check on public opinion, or an engagement technique. I talk about ethical issues involved in human enhancement through genome editing, considering public values and philosophical views alike.
