Sound Walk
2021
I have lived in the same house my entire life, and it is perhaps one of the coolest places to exist-Boulder, Colorado. Not just because I live in a state that exhibits all four seasons with full force but due to this specific 20 minute walk to Pearl Street Mall that I have been taking since I was a kid. I had the opportunity to go home and experience this journey again, and it was one of the more important times I’ve walked on this path. Each step was so familiar, yet so valuable as they were steps I had taken away from days where I had been unable to get out of bed, days where I was in and out of the doctor’s office. I finally had the ability to get up and walk somewhere, sit in a coffee shop and feel as though a weight had been lifted off my shoulders, a load crushed under my feet the same way I trampled dry leaves on my path. The music that I included, Hey Lovely, by Chance Pena, is a song I play on repeat during long walks. Each footstep is healing to the mind and the soul. My sound walk takes me to the more ignored dimension of these journeys, allowing me to relive the experience through a completely different medium.
