Recent Advances in Food Engineering in North -East India

17-19 December, 2020

Overview of the proposed event: North-east India has strong foot print in Agro-economy. Food science and processing are integral components of an agriculture based economy. These deal with the novel techniques involved in producing, bio processing, preservation, fermentation, packaging, labeling, quality management, safety assessment, marketing and entrepreneurship of food products. It involves an amalgamation of physical, chemical or microbiological processes and techniques of raw ingredients transformation into food and also other forms in food processing industry. This course will provide an overview of recent advances and innovations of separation, purification and application of bio-active compounds of north-east India. The course is designed in such a way that the faculty members from different institutes will be benefited when they will be teaching the same course in their respective colleges. In addition, this course will provide theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on training with special focus on various applications. The lectures will be delivered by eminent experts from IITs and other reputed organizations.

Objective of the Symposium: The objective of the Symposium is to enable faculty members working in various Engineering Colleges across the Country to have expertise in the area of separation, purification and application of bio active compounds from various cultivars.

Importance of the proposed event : This Symposium will provide an overview emphasizing upon an inter-disciplinary approach to address conventional and frontier research problems in food science and technology with special emphasis upon translational research themes applicable for the North-eastern region of India. The course is designed to benefit faculty members as well as young researchers. The goal is to provide theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on training with special focus on their applications. The lectures will be delivered by eminent experts from IITs.
