As everyone else may have noticed, the national government is in the move to digitalize all of its aspects. The DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology) is in full swing developing apps here and there.
But the LGU's, especially from the provinces, seems unable to keep up with how fast they are implementing changes.
Below are my personally tried-and-tested softwares/processes that may help:
Sending files from one person to another
Transferring the contents of one's computer's hard drive to a new one in cases of hardware breakdowns
These are everyday dilemmas we encounter at the office.
...and no one seems to have the initiative to have it solved despite all the modern technologies we have today. (For the benefit of the doubt, perhaps, they do have the initiatives but they lack the power/influence/say regarding the matter and are just stuck with making use of what works? IDK. Really.)
With that, and because I work on digital files for almost all of my entire adult life, I tried researching about how to have a software that can be used for secure file transfers and sharing to a remote, cloud-based storage. I found two, FREE and User-Friendly options a few minutes after the right google search. I also tried to make a simple comparison of their ease of use and technical requisites.
WinSCP UI from logging-in, connection and the actual dashboard that looks just like another local folder on your PC.
Same operations such as copy-paste-ings, drag-and-drops, folder creations and easy deletions feels all local. Users will not take so much time to familiarize themselves with navigating the tool.
CoreFTP UI feels a little old-school compared to the native-like UI of WinSCP.
It does have a cleaner, lighter feels to it, though.
The left column shows your local PC's files and folders while the right one is the other computer/the server/the cloud storage's.
Same processes work compared to that of WinSCP. I also feel like users will not have trouble familiarizing themselves with how CoreFTP works.
Counterpart cPanel UI (remote server) where I setup the CoreFTP to save the files. It's on NameCheap's shared hosting. Every folder represents an account I created for testing-out folder accesses.
With the current setup, every account has its own private folder. Meaning, excluding the admin account handling the remote server access, all files by each user are their sole responsibilities. Very favorable for sensitive information storing.
