I led the project of selecting, testing and calibrating 24 standard star fields for GMOS instrument at Gemini North, which is now our default collection of standard star fields to choose from. Compared to the older Landolt fields, these new fields contain fainter stars that are more suitable for 8-m class telescopes, consume less nighttime due to fewer readouts, and thanks to guiding, have much improved telescope pointing accuracy and make it possible to measure seeing.
As an instrument scientist for this extreme precision radial velocity spectrograph, I support the instrument's day-to-day operations by monitoring instrument health, taking calibrations, ensuring data quality, assisting observers, and providing user support. I maintain documentation and operational procedures, coordinate with instrument developers and observatory staff to resolve technical and operational issues, train new users and staff, and serve as a contact scientist for many MAROON-X observing programs. I also contribute to software and operational improvements that enhance observing efficiency and scientific productivity.
GPI-2 is an upcoming extreme adaptive optics instrument designed to directly image Jovian exoplanets. As a project scientist, I provide the relevant data & information flows between the external instrument builders and Gemini, contribute with documentation writing, and commissioning of the instrument.
