Hiram was born in Puebla, Mexico. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Biological Chemistry and a Master's degree in Physiological Sciences from the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP), as well as a Ph.D. in Chemical-Biological Sciences from the National Polytechnique Institute (IPN). He has completed academic stays as a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid and served as a postdoctoral researcher for CONAHCYT (now SECIHTI) at the Institute of Physiology, BUAP.
His research focuses on exploring the relationship between neuroplasticity mechanisms and immunological processes, both under physiological and pathological conditions.
He has received several awards throughout his career, including: recognition as a National Researcher Level I by the National System of Researchers (SECIHTI, since 2022), an invitation to the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (2023), the Award for Best Graduate Academic Performance (IPN, 2021), and the Professional Development Award from the Society for Neuroscience (USA), granted on two occasions (2020 and 2023).
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports, especially football and baseball, and is an enthusiastic follower of the Star Wars universe.
