Hiram Tendilla Beltrán

Principal Investigator 

Hiram was born in Puebla, Mexico. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Biological Chemistry and a Master's degree in Physiological Sciences from the Meritorious Autonomous University of Puebla (BUAP), as well as a Ph.D. in Chemical-Biological Sciences from the National Polytechnique Institute (IPN). He has completed academic stays as a visiting researcher at the Faculty of Medicine of the Complutense University of Madrid and served as a postdoctoral researcher for CONAHCYT (now SECIHTI) at the Institute of Physiology, BUAP.

His research focuses on exploring the relationship between neuroplasticity mechanisms and immunological processes, both under physiological and pathological conditions.

He has received several awards and honors throughout his career, including recognition as a National Researcher Level I by the National System of Researchers (SECIHTI, since 2022); election as a Young Academic Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences (2026); an invitation to attend the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (2023); the Award for Best Graduate Academic Performance (IPN, 2021); and the Professional Development Award from the Society for Neuroscience (USA), which he received twice (2020 and 2023).

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching sports, especially football and baseball, and is an enthusiastic follower of the Star Wars universe.

Ana Aurora Orduña Salazar

PhD Student (ENCB-IPN, co-supervisor: Fidel de la Cruz) 

Ana Aurora was born in Tehuacán, Puebla, Mexico. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biomedicine from the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) and a Master's degree in Chemical and Biological Sciences from the National School of Biological Sciences (ENCB) of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN). She is currently pursuing a PhD in Chemical and Biological Sciences at ENCB-IPN, conducting her experimental research at the Laboratory of Integrative and Translational Neuroscience at Cinvestav, Tlaxcala.

Ana's research focuses on the neurobiology of suicide. Her interests center on understanding the mechanisms underlying alterations in neuroplasticity in cortical regions associated with suicide.

She has participated in various academic events, including the First Congress of Biomedicine, where she was part of the organizing team, as well as the Society for Neuroscience annual meeting. She has extensive experience in group management and in the organization and coordination of teams.

She is passionate about neuroscience and is highly motivated by the opportunity to contribute to scientific knowledge through her research.

Outside of academia, she enjoys reading science fiction and exploring philosophy. In her free time, she writes poetry and enjoys practicing dance and mixed martial arts.

Roberto Santiago Carballeda Cañibe

PhD Student (DFBN, Cinvestav; co-supervisor: Gerardo Contreras) 

Roberto’s work focuses on the neurobiology of chronic stress. His interests center on understanding the mechanisms underlying alterations in neuroplasticity and neuroimmune responses resulting from stress across development, from early life to adulthood in rats.
