Notes:
To say this night of poker was out of the ordinary would be a complete bluff. Speaking of bluffing and two outers, we should instantly recognize our champion of the night, Mr. Scott Reep -- who hails from Venecia California. It was his night despite attempting to lose at every turn.
October 22nd is ladies night from 5-6pm for training, then the full game for regulars. See you then.

New members Tim Goodson and Nicolas DeLong cashed in their first event - nice job guys, great plays all night. Cameron won on his 5th game with the club, and Taylor had his 2nd cash in 6 games over 3 seasons. Well played.
Next game is October 8th -- many of us get dinner in the Living Room around 5pm. Join us if you wish.

Notes:
21 registered, 15 played. Hope those that didn't make it are safe, healthy, and happy. So what happened on our inagural poker game of the season?
Lets start with some of the new features we have installed.
Table setting. We no longer are wedging the table between the Bear and the Shuffle Board. The third table is located between the pool table and the dart board. The leather chairs are moved to the wall, and there is plenty of space for 30 poker players.
ANTES!!! To speed up the game, and ensure the pot is always correct, we are establishing an ante system where the big blind pays the ante. Easy as cake. How does it work? The big blind puts in the big blind, and then also puts in the amount equal to the big blind as the Ante. Antes start on the second round.
20 minute blinds. Yeah -- blinds increase every 20 minutes. Why such a short amount of time? Well -- it seems short, but in reality that is probably two orbits, sometimes more if the table is short (5-6 players). And, as we mature in our play (dealing / shuffling) it will be more like 3 orbits.
Blind Structure. The game is now setup to end in 4 hours. Last night we went the full monte, ending in 4 hours and 15 minutes. This means more people can play longer.
Some Game Notes
First, I'd like to recognize Kevin O'Brien in his effort as the defending Season 2 Championship Game winner. Today, he was the bubble boy, after losing the bulk of his chips to Mr. Faulkenberry's made flush on the river. It was great seeing Kevin play solid poker all night.
Second, we need to recognize the first out, Sarah Forsythe who made a run to get something going with cards that never connected, while being in a position that suggested inaction. After placing 10th overall in points and 3rd in the Championship event in Season 2, I'm not concerned about her wild bluff attempts tonight.....but it's certainly going to make me wonder the next time I'm in a had with Sarah.
And -- staying with the trend of recognition -- Mr. Burns, who was the Regular Season Champion in Season 2, had a swingy game at the final table, having doubled-up twice (maybe 3 times?) only to ship his chips to his favorite villain, and ultimate tourney champion of the night, Brett Bottorff. Jack finished third tonight earning 157 points. Not too shabby.
Speaking of Brett, who was the Season 2 regular Season brides maid, was short-stacked for most of the night, and was a folding machine, until push came to uh...push, and the double ups compounded. Notable was his patience -- and recognition of his position, particularly when heads-up when he had only 25% of the chips, but thru 30 hands (thanks Jack Burns for dealing), scooped all chips from yours truly, capturing the win and 473 points. Very nice work Brett!
There was one hand worth describing -- four all-in's, which is pretty rare. It describes where I got most of my chips very early in the session, and may be a good learning session.
I'm dealing (KhQd), Mike Oren (As8s) is small blind, Bill Perry (7d6h) is big blind, Bobby Jewell (Ks9c) is the cut-off.
Pre-Flop, I believe Bobby limped, and I bet 4x BB. Mike, Bill and Bobby all called.
Flop comes 2s6sKh. I think the action checks around, and I bet 75% of the pot. Mike goes all-in for 2x bet. Bill calls with a shorter stack. I accidently call all-in, forgetting about Bobby. Bobby calls anyway, and we re-confirm four players are all-in. we all flip are cards over.
I'm leading and need to dodge 19 cards: 9 spades and 3 aces to beat Mike, 2 sixes and 2 sevens to beat Bill, and 3 nines to beat Bobby. Turn is a 3h, River is a 4d. Believe I scooped 2.5 my stack to become the whale on the table. What would you have done differently?
Notice Sheridan and Chris busted out 8 and 7 respectively. They were seated next to each other in the final table. Coincidence?
Do you remember a hand or a particular play that should be included here?? Send to Steve
