On this page, you can find audio examples of different articulations. Please keep in mind that many more articulations exist apart from the examples on this website. I encourage you to do your own research to discover more! All examples consist of a concert F Major scale played on a Bb clarinet, where each note equals a quarter note.
Each tempo example is paired with a definition from Google Dictionary.
Staccato: (Italian: detached) performed with each note sharply detached or separated from the others.
Legato: (Italian: bound) smooth and flowing in manner, without breaks between notes.
Each note is lightly articulated.
Accent: An emphasis on a particular note or chord.
Slur: A curved line used to show that a group of two or more notes is to be sung to one syllable or played or sung legato.
