INTRODUCTION: To begin this unit, you'll be learning public speaking secrets from Carmine Gallo's book, Talk Like TED. You should have your own copy. The book is divided into three parts to help you make a TED talk that is
Emotional
Novel, and
Memorable
You'll only need to read one of these three parts. Take a moment to peruse the chapter headings and decide which part appears most interesting to you. Then, add your name to the sign-up below next to your chosen part (1, 2, or 3.)
You'll be working in a TED Talk Team for the rest of the unit. This is a group of three students that will share their expertise (i.e. what they learned from their part of the book) with the others in their group as we go through the writing and speech-delivery process.
Learning Target:
Clearly and effectively communicate the complex ideas put forth in Talk Like TED through the creation of an infographic.
Success Criteria:
How clearly and simply do I teach the important points of [Part 1, 2, or 3 of the book] in my infographic?
How well will others be able to read, understand, and apply the tips from this part of the book, based on the way I designed the infographic?
AFTER YOU READ: Now, create an infographic on Canva that teaches the most important points from your part of the book. Please choose from the "Poster" or "Infographic" templates. (If you haven't used Canva before, it will start with a tutorial when you sign up.)
When you've finished, add a link to your infographic on the sign-up sheet above.
The purpose of this is to teach your Team what you read so that they can apply those tips to their own TED talk later. We'll have time in class to share these so please be sure they are completed by [DATE].
