All full-time first-year students at TAMU-CC are required to participate in a learning community (LC) during their first two semesters in order to ease the transition to university life. Learning communities at TAMU-CC are comprised of First-Year Seminar (UCCP 1101 or 1102) and at least one other course (typically a large lecture core class); linked courses are treated as co-requisites so that students form social and intellectual cohorts.
In addition to teaching Seminar every semester, as an LC coordinator, I lead faculty collaboration on LC themes, planning, and integrated assignment descriptions. LCs I have co-taught in include:
