Danby Highway Superintendent: Elect or Appoint? (2016) (After this proposal was voted down by the public twice—and a third attempt was abandoned by the Town Board following angry public comment—the Town Board went around public opinion and passed a modified proposal that did not require public approval.
Oddly enough, that proposal was one I researched and presented—in previous years—as an alternative to abolishing the elected post. By the time it was passed, I opposed it because it was clear that several residents were interested in running for the Highway Superintendent position and that no action was necessary. Some might call the act of passage, "a solution in search of a problem.")
Too many articles to list, some factual, some humorous. See the online Danby News, then search issues for "Ted Crane".
