Hello! I am Ashley Parker. I have an M.Ed. in Instructional Technology from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education from Angelo State University with a specialization in graphic design and digital media. I have a passion for life-long learning, technology integration, real-world experiences, art, and working with people. Helping others learn and be the best they can be is one of the reasons I enjoy being an Instructional Designer.
I enjoy designing for various environments such as face-to-face, virtual, online, blended learning, printed materials, and digital media. I especially enjoy creating e-learning as I can tap into my artistic skills to incorporate multimedia and storytelling. I like to incorporate my digital media and artistic skills with my instructional design skills to create engaging and dynamic learning programs and opportunities.
I have worked as an educator, secondary coach, graphic designer, and instructional technology specialist. This experience has taught me to be adaptable and open to various ways of working for a variety of clients.
My artistic side enriches my work as an instructional designer and educational technologist in a variety of ways. I am able to see things in new ways, brainstorm ideas that are out of the box, and use my artistic talents to add an aesthetic appeal.
Also, my time as a graphic designers has taught me how to work well with people, communicate my ideas visually and verbally, and work on a tight deadline with a small budget. I can take my experience creating storyboards, prototypes and translate all this into my instructional design work.
Part of my work as a a graphic designer is to understand the message, audience, intent, and style of a client. Part of the work of an instructional designer is to know your audience and figure out what they need in order to learn and to be more successful in their work. I have an innate ability to put myself in people's shoes and find solutions to their problems.
