Match student company

You, as a company, are looking for a suitable student. How do you stand out with your internship or apprenticeship so that students find your training company? And when the reactions are pouring in, how do you select the right candidate? Our training and resources and five actions answer your questions.

2.1 Do you want to train a VET student?

Choose the type of internship and the level of education of the student. In addition in the Netherlands, you must be a recognized training company. You can request a recognition from SBB (in the Netherlands). Read more below about the benefits of and conditions for recognition.

2.2 Select students
Make sure students find the open apprenticeship in your organization. This can be done in three ways: - Place the apprenticeship on Stagemarkt.nl and Leerbanenmarkt.nl via MijnSBB (only in the Netherlands). - Contact the work placement coordinator of the school in your area.- Share the learning place via social media, open days of schools, your own website, and so on. Get a first impression of the students responding to your apprenticeship and choose who to invite for an interview. The student's origin, nationality, gender, age, marital status, religion, disability, chronic illness or sexual orientation may not play a role in the selection.

2.3 Job interview
Participate in the job interview as a practical trainer and ensure that you interview all students in the same way and thus offer equal opportunities. We offer you tips on how to prepare for a meeting and what questions to ask.

2.4 Decide who to take
Decide whether to hire the student and consider the following considerations in your decision:

• Does the student suit your company?

• Do the student's expectations and learning goals match what you can offer?

• Do the company's expectations suit the student?

2.5 Make arrangements
Have you found a suitable student? In that case, make agreements with the school and the student about the practical training period (BPV period) and record this in a signed practical training agreement. The school ensures that this agreement is concluded.
