One stop shop for understanding the basics of the latest and greatest technologies in the IT Industry
Let me keep my introduction simple, I am an IT guy working as an Enterprise Architect in one of the leading consulting companies, I have around 20 years of Experience in IT, I may have gained a lot of knowledge and delivered a lot of projects or designed a hell lot of architectures but my real passion is "Knowledge sharing", I share what I learn, I love it when someone asks me a question about something related to IT "especially when it’s about technology ", I try to explain the same in the best possible manner
I always felt that I am not exercising my passion enough hence one fine day it just clicked me that why not create a blog and share my knowledge and experience so that everyone is benefitted from the same and at the same time I can follow my passion of sharing knowledge
So here I am sharing this treasure of Knowledge on IT
Working in an IT Industry you always have to deal with a lot of "New Concepts" and a lot of questions come to your mind, especially when you are in a meeting and someone says "Yeah this application may require an NDR since it’s a critical application" and many times we just start nodding without having a clue as to what exactly was said and what does it mean
This blog will help you understand all those core concepts and can act as a reference guide to understand all the design and architecture principals which goes into building up an IT infrastructure for any Organization, this is the place where you get a "Head-start" or a "jump start" either when you are starting your carrier in IT or if you are an experienced veteran you can just enlighten yourself with all the basics behind the IT architectures.
You would find one peculiarity in this blog, I have written all the text in a conversational fashion as if I am communicating directly with the reader so although there are chances that you may find grammatical mistakes in it; you would enjoy and grasp the concepts very quickly, another important note, I have created Schematics (nothing but diagrams) wherever possible so that it helps you in visualising and understanding better. I have also made sure that I make use of IT jargons as less as possible because I don’t want this to be just like another site in technology or banking where the reader just gets overburdened every now and then with specialised words and ends up just googling all the time and losing interest eventually
Important Tip: One last thing before you delve into the other sections of this blog, you would comprehend things better if you follow the topics in a sequence as there are many topics ahead which need some pre-understanding of the previous topics
So finally, we start our journey of learning, to understand and comprehend technology we have to pick up a domain to start with, as i have been working mostly in the BFSI sector so you would find all my examples related to Banking, and ofcourse Banking IT platforms are the most complex so if you understand this then you wont face any challenge in comprehending IT technologies with respect to any other domain
So, to begin with let’s start by defining what is BFSI, the acronym stands for Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, it’s basically an Industry term which defines a sector of Business or companies which provide a range of financial products and services, we would be able to understand better if we jot down a few services under each of the terms used in this acronym, although I have taken the simplest of services below, it’s not necessary that you should know all of them, even if you are aware of one or two you should be able to relate it with the explanations ahead
Banking Services
v Savings accounts
v Internet Banking
v Mobile Banking
v Corporate and Retail Loans
v IMPS
v RTGS / NEFT
v UPI
Financial Services
v Investment in Bonds
v Stocks
v Mutual Funds
v Home Loans
v Vehicle Finance
v Consumer Finance
Insurance
v Auto Insurance
v Health Insurance
v Property Insurance
v Life Insurance
Although I have mentioned a lot of services up there for you to relate and resonate I maybe mostly taking examples from the "Banking" Sector as the most robust, technical and complex architectures are from Banking
The customers enjoy all these services with so much flexibility and zero hassle but there is a lot of backend “IT Machinery” involved which keeps these services up and running 24/7 with new products and features added regularly
The Question that comes to our mind is "what is this machinery?", how is the design? What kind of processes are involved
On this site, you would be getting answers to all these Questions and more
The aim of this blog is to understand the underline technologies and technology principles which help provide these services to the End customers and these technology principles are not limited to only the BFSI but can be applied to any Industry such as Healthcare, Entertainment, Manufacturing, etc.
So without further ado lets dive into the technology learning
